nostalgia

if hands could free you,heart,
where would you fly?
far,beyond every part
of earth this running sky
makes desolate?would you cross
city and hill and sea,
if hands could set you free?

i would not lift the latch;
for i could run
through fields,pit valleys,catch
all beauty under the sun-
still end in loss:
i should find no bent arm,no bed
to rest my head
- philip larkin
there's always something in the way

what made you pick up larkin again? describe in detail, what led to larkin? was it fortuitous or it just happened?

hahha.lit question?
i've always adored larkin
& every now and then i read his works
over and over,to try figure it out
each time a new revelation
also, larkin reminds me of RJ days
which hold bittersweet memories
and most of me wants to turn back time
rusty lockers,vandalised tables,
flimsy container classrooms, sardine puff in between lectures,
LT 2.5...

no, not lit question..
i think i shall pull out my copy after typing this.

yes larkin reminds me of jc days with keith prince
puay miao
mr kan
yes sardine puffs (40c)
LT 2.5
ricky metal steps up unto the containers
your description sounds like a poem in itself
maybe you should write one about these feelings
it should come easy?

aaron low taught me larkin

RJ for me was full of
pleasant surprises, literally
